Welcome to the December 2024 Money Statistics, The Money Charity’s comprehensive monthly round-up of statistics showing how we use money in the UK. Using a wide range of freely available and reliable external sources, such as the Bank of England, ONS and UK Finance, alongside our own calculations and number crunching, The Money Charity’s report has always provided all sorts of unique, objective and insightful perspectives on the state of the UK’s finances.
We have been producing our must-read summary of the UK’s financial situation since 2005 and this new report will therefore be the 235th edition! However, all good things must come to an end and we’re really sorry to announce that this will also be the final edition of The Money Statistics.
While The Money Statistics has always been well-loved and valued by its thousands of subscribers, for many years we have not had a dedicated funder for it and have therefore covered the considerable amount of staff time and effort it takes us to produce it each month out of our core costs. As a charity dedicated to increasing Financial Wellbeing and pushing for more and better Financial Education across the UK, it has become harder to justify this spend, when the report is useful, but not core to our purpose.
We have always known loud and clear how much The Money Statistics‘ audience have appreciated it and how useful many have found it in their own work and lives, so we’re really sorry that this news will come as a disappointment. However, the full archive of previous monthly reports dating back to 2005 will remain available for the foreseeable. And we are not ruling out starting the report up again in the future, if a dedicated funder was found.
We do hope that all of our readers will be able to continue engaging with The Money Charity through our core work, the delivery of Financial Wellbeing and Financial Education Workshops and Webinars to groups of people of all ages, in schools, colleges, universities, workplaces, charities and community organisations. If you’d like to find out more about our offering for any of those areas, why not take a good look around our website or tell a friend or colleague about what we do? You might even work for an organisation that shares our vision and wants to get behind it through a funding partnership. If so, please do get in touch, we’d love to start the conversation.
All that remains to say then is our gratitude for all your support over the years and a huge thank you all for reading!
