Volunteer Ambassador

Our Organisation – The Money Charity is the UK’s financial capability charity, providing education, information, advice, and guidance to all. We help people to manage their money well to increase their financial wellbeing. We do this primarily through our own delivery, but also through influencing and supporting others. We empower people across the UK to build the skills, knowledge, attitudes and behaviours to make the most of their money throughout their lives. Our vision is that everyone achieves financial wellbeing by managing their money well.

Overview of the Role – The Money Charity is seeking ambitious and enthusiastic regional community volunteer ambassadors to assist in the raising of profile, awareness and understanding of our work. We will be recruiting for the following regions:

  • Anglia/East England
  • North-West England
  • North-East England
  • Yorkshire & The Humber

Main Duties

  • Representing The Money Charity at events such as local conferences, trade shows and networking meetings
  • Giving talks to local groups and organisations about the work that The Money Charity carries out
  • Seeking out new opportunities proactively to attend local events, give talks and presentations
  • Raising awareness of The Money Charity, gaining support of its work and promoting initiatives via a personal local network of contacts
  • Providing The Money Charity with feedback on all volunteer activities

Time Commitment

  • Ad-hoc
  • Minimum length of commitment: 6 months to a year

Experience, Skills & Qualities Required

  • Fluent English speaker with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • A background, or demonstrable interest in, personal finance
  • Passionate about the cause of financial capability
  • Experience in the education or training sector
  • Experience giving talks or presentations
  • Confident speaking to members of the public and responding to questions from an audience (we will supply materials and Q&As)
  • Trustworthy, reliable and punctual with a professional attitude
  • Tolerant, compassionate and open-minded
  • Proactive, always looking for opportunities to promote The Money Charity’s objectives
  • An interest and enthusiasm for the charity sector and commitment to our work, policies and ethics
  • Excellent organisational and IT skills (including Microsoft Office)

What You Can Expect From Us

  • We will hold an induction day for all our volunteer ambassadors which will include an introduction to the charity, together with an overview of our schools modules, our workplace and communities workshops, and all the details of the volunteer role parameters
  • All volunteer ambassadors will receive a full ambassador pack including information about The Money Charity, our workshops and modules and other information to assist with the carrying out of the volunteer role
  • Volunteers will be given the opportunity to experience one of our financial wellbeing workshops
  • Annual networking event and bi-annual CPD sessions
  • Regular updates and newsletters from The Money Charity re: sector trends, The Money Charity initiatives, opportunities and developments
  • The Money Charity will reimburse volunteers’ travel expenses
